Yin

Yin Yoga is a slower-paced version of the popular physical discipline of yoga. In Yin yoga, the yin poses are held for a longer period of time (typically three to five minutes or longer) to target the connective tissues (such as the ligaments, joints, bones and facia) rather than focusing on the muscles. As a result, the asanas are more passive holds, with little muscular engagement.

Yin Yoga was founded on the Taoist theory of yin and yang – opposite concepts that, together, represent balance. Yin is stable and passive. The yin poses, therefore, are passive and performed while seated or in a reclining position. The poses are held with the muscles fully relaxed, allowing time and gravity to deepen the stretch and target the fascia. The time spent holding these asanas is similar to meditation.

Yoga Flow

Yoga flow is a style of yoga where students will smoothly transition from one pose to the next. These transitions are guided by the breath to create a fluid sequence of asanas (poses). The variability of helps to create a balance throughout the body. This variability can be helpful in preventing injury and provide opportunities to train the body through different ranges of motion.

It’s a cardiovascular workout too as students are continuously moving and flowing, rather than holding a pose for an extended period of time, there are more opportunities to bring the heart rate up.

Flow Yoga is an energizing and dynamic form of movement with benefits including:

·        Improved cardiovascular health

·        Increased strength

·        Increased flexibility

·        Improved mobility

·        Improved mood

Qi Gong

Qigong is an ancient Chinese healing art. It is a form of light exercise, a mind-body-spirit practice that integrates posture, breathwork, movement and focused intent. It involves repeated movements and stretching, and increasing fluid movement within the body. Qigong is designed to improve mental and physical well being and prevent dis-ease in the body. Qigong restores the flow of energy in the body and helps us become aware of the flow of our own life force energy, or chi. Qi meaning life force or energy and Gong meaning skill.

Meditation

Meditation is a practice that involves focusing or clearing your mind using a combination of mental and physical techniques. Meditation can give you a sense of calm, peace and balance. It is a practice that can benefit both your emotional well-being and your overall health. Meditation can help you relax and cope with stress by refocusing your attention on something calming. The practice of meditation is thousands of years old, and different forms come from around the world. Thanks to modern technology the many benefits of mediation have now been proven including that meditation can positively affect your brain and mental health including:

  • Decreased symptoms of anxiety, depression or PTSD

  • Improved ability to think, concentrate and solve problems.

  • Better ability to adapt to and overcome emotional problems

Because mental health has a strong impact on the health of your body, those benefits also often bring improvements in how well you sleep, high blood pressure and heart function, and much more.

There’s no one correct way to meditate. That’s because meditation can take many different forms.

In the words of the renowned spiritual leader Gurudev Sri Ravi.

“…meditation is a lively fountain of love of compassion of joy these are all within us inside us our nature is happiness our nature is love like a body is made up of amino acids carbohydrates and all that our spirit is made up of is love a spirit is made up of peace and it is experience of vastness know that we are close to ourselves our spirit..”

Breath-work

Breathwork refers to any breathing exercise or technique. People often perform them to improve mental, physical, and spiritual well-being. During breathwork, you intentionally change your breathing pattern.

Many forms of breathwork therapy involve breathing in a conscious and systematic way. Many people find breathwork promotes deep relaxation or leaves them feeling energized. Breathwork is a great tool that can be easily learnt and used for a variety of reason. Breathwork helps improve emotional state and decreased levels of stress.
